Saudi Arabia Strengthens Charitable Efforts During Ramadan

RIYADH: The spirit of generosity and reflection defines Ramadan in Saudi Arabia, with communities actively engaging in charitable initiatives. Efforts range from funding medical treatments to supporting orphans and promoting self-reliance among families.

To ensure donations reach their intended recipients, Saudi Arabia has reinforced regulatory frameworks. The Presidency of State Security has emphasized that donations must be made through official channels, with KSrelief as the sole authorized entity for international contributions.

Several organizations are playing a key role in Ramadan’s charitable initiatives. The Charitable Society for Orphans Care (Ensan) in Riyadh focuses on orphan welfare, offering financial aid for Ramadan essentials and special Eid gift projects. Director-General Mohammed Al-Muharib highlighted the organization’s emphasis on transparency and community partnerships to fulfill its mission.

In Jeddah, Al-Bir Society, founded in 1981, provides social services to orphans, families, and kidney failure patients. As of March 17, 2025, its medical centers have conducted over 660,000 dialysis sessions and offer comprehensive patient support. The society aids over 37,000 families and 14,000 orphans, ensuring their educational and healthcare needs are met.

Qatif Charity, operating for over 60 years, supports 1,300 students, 370 families, and 500 orphans. The organization runs Ramadan programs such as Zakat Al-Fitr, Eid Joy, and Eid Clothing, while also launching an online donation platform to facilitate contributions. President Osama Al-Zayer emphasized the deep-rooted culture of giving, particularly during Ramadan.

In Asir, the Ajaweed initiative provides home healthcare services, including vaccinations and prescription deliveries, throughout the month.

These organizations exemplify Saudi Arabia’s structured and impactful philanthropy, ensuring donations create lasting change while upholding the country’s vision of communal solidarity.
